Letting Go can be defined as surrendering. To surrender to God means to give it to God. When you are surrendering you are giving up and letting go. Surrendering to God is the act of yielding to Him. Surrender means “to give up completely” or “to give oneself up into the power of another”. For a clearer picture, look at these synonyms for surrender: give up, hand over, and lay down.
You give yourself into God’s leading when you give up control, hand over worries, and lay down your desires. So, surrendering to God is when you give up control instead of trying to control your life on your own. It’s a constant struggle against our human nature. We are acknowledging that we are not big enough to carry our burdens and sins by ourselves when we hand over everything to God. Sins hold us back from moving forward, and it must our past must be surrendered to Jesus and the price that He already paid for us.
Our human nature likes to think that we have everything under control, and it may feel like things are going great, but when things start to get challenging, we realized how helpless we truly are. We ought to keep God in control of our life even when things seem like we can handle life on our own because we essentially can’t do it on our own and are nothing without Him.
Surrendering to God brings us true freedom. Letting go and letting God is like telling God that you are done trying to deal with your problems in your own limited strength, and asking Him to provide you with His strength. God’s strength is powerful and strong, unlike our weak hands which can’t hold on any longer.
Prayer is such a special gift. Prayer is communication with God, the Father. We get to talk to our Creator. We grow in our relationship with God through prayer. Talk to God. Before you start all your daily tasks, start the day with prayer. Tell Him your worries, anxieties, doubts, and fears. Lay down the mistakes of your past and don’t pick them back up. Praise God for His goodness and the blessings that He has given you. Start your day with prayer, continue your day with prayer, and end your day with prayer!

Storing God’s Word in your heart through meditation helps you to renews your mind daily. Find a find that encourages and meditate on it. Post it somewhere that you will see it often. Each time you read it allow it to speak to your fear, anxiety, doubts, shame, or whatever it is that you need to surrender.

We need community. God doesn’t want us to do life alone. It is important to have people surrounding you who are uplifting and edifying to your life. It could be friends, family members, church members, or a church group. Whoever it is that God has placed in your life who helps you grow spiritually. Allow them to be a spiritual mentor. A Christian community or mentor can speak truth into your life and to remind you to continually surrender to God daily. Christian resources, such as books, videos, or podcasts are also a good way to encourage you and expand your faith.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!”
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
If you truly trust that God is for you, you can fully surrender to Him. God is for you and not against you. God only wants what is best for your life. Hard things certainly come our way, but if we believe that God knows best and has a reason for all things, then we will get through with His strength. You can let go and let God when you trust in Him. You will see how there is no need to worry, fear, doubt, or live in the past of your mistake because God is worthy of your surrender.
Surrendering to God is not easy, but God is always trustworthy. Letting go and letting God is always worth it. Will you fear, worry, or doubt again? Yes, you are human. Though will you know that when you let go and surrender to God, he will help you through? Yes! God is asking for you to surrender your worries, fears, doubts, regrets, etc. He is your Creator and knows your thoughts, so you can give it all to Him. God is FOR YOU! Today and every day, rest in your full surrender to Him.
