Even as Christians walking on this journey with Christ, there will be some hard times. It may seem like they will never end. One thing after the other comes up. This happens, and that has to be done, and you have so much on your mind that you may forget what needs to be done next. The hard times add up and it seems almost impossible to get through them.
You may start to wonder, where is God? How can this be the plan He has for me?
It is so good to know that God is never too far away from us. He has heard every prayer and seen every tear that has fallen. Our relationship with God is personal that He knows exactly what we need before we even ask Him. God’s plan is not to hurt or harm us. We can put our full faith in God and trust that this is going to work out for our good. He will show up in every area of our life. So, we don’t have to wake up worrying how we’re going to get through it. We can rest in knowing God already has the answer.
Let’s take a minute to reflect on the story of Mary, the mother of Jesus, who was also unsure of God's plan. An angel appears to her and tells her that she will have a child. Mary was scared. She was unsure of what may happen, but she trusted God’s plan. Her trust is seen in her response to the angel: “‘I am the Lord’s servant,’ Mary answered. ‘May your word to me be fulfilled.’” (Luke 1:38) She went on to give birth to a son named Jesus. This son would become a man, then a King and Savior of the whole world!
“And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”
Luke 1:30-33, ESV
This story not only displays an act of courage, but also an act of faith. Mary had faith and trust in God's plan which led to the Son of the Most High, who would bring salvation to all of God's people. Her yes made it possible for us to be saved.
There is much to learn from the story of the woman with the issue of blood. Her faith in Jesus healed her.
“And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and though she had spent all her living on physicians, she could not be healed by anyone. She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, and immediately her discharge of blood ceased.”
Luke 8:43-44, ESV
Although nameless, this woman has made a great impact on Christians. She was brave enough to step out of the crowd and touch the hem of Jesus' garment. She knew that there was healing power in Jesus. That is bold, unshakable faith. Imagine our "yes" being that powerful. Our yes could open the door for many other people.
The journey of walking in God's plan may be scary and hard, but the journey walked won't be alone. God is with us until the end. He will guide us and comfort us. He will strengthen us and protect on the journey. It will end up being worth it.
Whenever we are in doubt, we can always rely on these Bible stories to help us have faith and trust in God's plan. Walking in God's plan doesn't always feel good or look good. But good always come out of the plans of God. It doesn't matter what circumstances or situations are before us, God's plan will always prevail over our lives.
