To not worry we need to learn how to trust God more. We all have our own set of worries. It is normal to worry, but God doesn’t want us to be filled with worry. God wants us to be filled with Him. Worrying doesn’t help fix our problems. Only God can do that! When we trust God with our worries, we are learning how to be filled with Him and not filled with worry.
In our
relationship with God, trusting is a constant process. We don’t just decide to trust God and never worry again. Worries are going to come, but it is what we do with our worries that matters. Trusting God is the continual practice of reminding ourselves that we must trust God when a worry comes our way. Trusting God makes worry disappear!
1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)—
“ Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you .”
Matthew 6:25-27 (NIV)—
“ Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life ?
Matthew 6:33-34 (NIV)—
“ But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own .”
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)—
“ Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus .”
Psalm 55:22 (NIV)—
“ Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken .”
Psalm 56:3 (NIV)—
“ When I am afraid, I put my trust in you .”
Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NIV)—
“ But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit .”
Psalm 118:8 (NIV)—
“ It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans .”
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)—
“ Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight .”
Psalm 37:5-6 (NIV)—
“ Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun .”
Isaiah 26:3-4 (NIV)—
“ You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.”
