Know Your Worth in God

Instead of telling you that you are amazing, let me show you why you are amazing. 

No matter what people or your thoughts have told you, your value is more than the things of this life. God made you in His likeness; in God’s image, He created YOU. Let me show what Genesis 1:26-27 says,

“Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

The Bible shows you that you are made in the IMAGE of our God, who is the Creator of all things. The American Heritage® Dictionary defines Image as the “One that closely or exactly resembles another.” Or “Likeness; semblance.” 

A few verses after that, it says in Genesis 1:31a, 

“And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good...”

God saw everything He created and said that “it was very good”. You are a part of God’s creation, so you too are very good. There is nothing worthless about you. The Bible shows that again and again. God made you for a good reason and it is a good thing that He did. Scriptures shows your value; You are valuable to God!

We are made in the image of God to reflect the glory of God. This does not mean that we are equal to God. God has no equal. Though we are to reflect God’s goodness, such as through the fruits of the Spirit. 

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

Galatians 5:22, ESV

Your self-worth is found in who made you—God, your creator—not from the things of this world. Your worth is not found in possession, achievement, status, beauty, but in Christ alone. Instead of criticizing yourself, praise God for creating you in His image and loving you even in your weaknesses. Knowing your worth helps you to love God and know God intimately, which in turn, you grow closer to God. The Scripture shows that you are a valuable and unique creation of God.

“Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.”

Luke 12:7, ESV

Look at the palm of your hands. Even your unique handprint is one of a kind!

God loves you so much that while you were still a sinner, Christ died for you. (Romans 5:8) The Bible says in John 15:13 that “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” You are a friend of Christ, a child of God. 

“But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.”

Isaiah 53:5, ESV

So, remember today and always that God created you in His likeness, you are good, you are unique, and you were worth dying for! You're amazing because you serve an amazing God!
