“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
Galatians 6:9-10, NIV
I love the analogy in this scripture to “reap a harvest”. Any gardener knows that it is not always an easy wait for the days of harvest. Gardening takes lots and time, work, knowledge, and skill. It takes trial and error, knowing what season to plant what vegetable, when to plant the seeds, how much to water, plowing, pruning, and simply waiting for the harvest.
As believers, we should have the same determined hard work as a gardener. As the gardener plows his garden, keeping his eyes ahead of him, not looking back, not taking his focus off of the goal, and pushing through the exhaustion. We should study God’s Word to increase our knowledge of God and how we ought to live and serve others. There are times we go through trials, make errors, or get exhausted, but we must “not become weary in doing good”. If a gardener gave up when it got hard, then there would be no harvest. Let’s keep our eyes on reaping a harvest and not yield from doing what God has called us to do. You got this!
Are you exhausted and feel like you just can’t continue pressing on? Don’t give up! You will reap your harvest at God’s proper time. You will get there! Maybe you need to make time to rest. Rest is completely necessary. It can seem counterintuitive, but rest can help charge you up to continue pressing on.
There are times we go through trials, make errors, or get exhausted, but we must "not become weary in doing good”.
