“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”
Psalm 23:1-3, NIV
Psalms 23 is a very popular chapter in the Bible. The first sentence sums the whole chapter, “The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want”. The Lord IS your shepherd. A shepherd is a leader, protector, restorer, provider, and sustainer. God is not sometimes your shepherd, He is always your shepherd. We are His sheep.
Just like sheep look to their shepherd for guidance and protection, we are called to be God’s sheep. We should not look to things of this world, such as money, our savings account, our jobs, our family and friends to be our guide, sustainer, and protector—which only Christ can provide for us. We find all we need in Him! Like sheep are completely lost without their shepherd, we would be completely lost without Christ as our Shepherd.
Today, be reminded that God is the One who gives you what you need. God is your Shepherd, provider, sustainer, guide, comfort, peace, grace, strength, etc. Whatever you need right now, God is everything you need. Thank for Him for that today!
