“Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:13-14, NIV
Paul wrote to the church at Philippi to forget what is behind and strain towards what is ahead. Let us strain to our goal to know Christ and be all that He wants us to be—more and more like Him. We all have a past where we were lost in our sin, but we must not dwell on our past. Once we are in Christ, we should fix our focus on the eternal life that we have in Him.
Even in our walk with Christ, we will go through hard times and feel the weight of life’s problems, but we trust that God is our strength. Only through God do we have the strength to push through, to strain towards the goal to win the prize that God has for us.
Is there anything in your past that you need to move past? Look to what is ahead and all that God has for you. If you can’t see what is ahead, then ask God to show you a glimpse to look forward to. Know that Christ is where your strength comes from.
