Inspire Within Devotion

Scripture

I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.”

Job 42:2, ESV

Encouragement

God is in control of ALL things. NOTHING can thwart His plans. Our God is sovereign, which means that He can do all things and has authority over all things. He is completely perfect and good. God sees things that we don’t. God is God and we are not.

In our human nature, we like to think that we are the ones who control each step of our lives. We can thoroughly plan each area of our lives, but ultimately, it is God’s plans and purpose that prevails. When our plans change or don’t go as expected, we must believe the truth that God is good and sovereign. We may not ever understand the reason behind God’s plans, though we can always trust that He is good, all-knowing ruler.

Reflection

An expected change of plans can be difficult and even devastating. If you are experiencing a change of plans in your life, cling to the truth about who God is. Read these Scriptures: Proverbs 16:9, Isaiah 55:8-9, Romans 8:28, Psalm 107:1, and Psalm 145:3. Pick out some of these verses to memorize and store within your heart.

Quote

"We can thoroughly plan each area of our lives, but ultimately, it is God’s plans and purpose that prevails."
