“When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.”
Matthew 7:28-29, NIV
The crowd was amazed when Jesus finished speaking His sermon on the mount because He taught differently than the law teachers. Jesus taught with authority—His authority. The teachers of the law, also known as the religious scholars, were only able to support their interpretation through quoting higher sources. Jesus didn’t need to quote religious scholars since He was the Word Himself. Let us not forget that Christ has authority over our lives, and we must look to Him and follow His Word.
Does your life reflect that Christ the authority of you? Is there anything you need to submit to God?
"Jesus taught with authority—His authority."
