Daily Scripture

He who conceals his sins does not prosper,
but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”
Proverbs 28:13, NIV

Daily Encouragement

The one who hides their sins does not move past their sin, instead, they remain stuck in their sins. We are not called to remain in our sins, instead, we are called to confess our sins. We are not able to prosper when there is sin concealed in our life. In the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the definition of the word prosper is “to become strong and flourishing”. So, to be strong and flourishing, we must confess and renounce all sins in our life. The word renounce means to forsake, give up, or eschew [to abstain or keep away from].

When we confess to God our sins and abstain from them, then we receive God’s mercy. God’s mercy is when we do not receive what we deserve for our sins. Forgiveness. God extends His grace to us when we ask for forgiveness by confessing our sins and turning away from them. God’s mercy and grace is a beautiful gift! Only through Christ can we shift from not prospering spiritually to becoming strong and flourishing.

Daily Reflection

Do you have a sin that you need to confess and renounce? If you are concealing a sin, God’s mercy is waiting for you. All you have to do is confess and forsake your sin. Through this step, you will flourish spiritually. God is not condemning or shaming you. He is calling you to His grace and mercy, which is leading on the path of righteousness. Like the Scripture says, “whoever confesses and renounces” their sin “finds mercy”. Read this reminder about how God’s Forgiveness is Greater than Shame.
