Good Works Can’t Save Us - Daily Devotional

Daily Scripture
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Ephesians 2:8-9, NIV
Daily Encouragement
We have life in Christ through the Grace of God. There is no way that we could save ourselves in our own efforts or abilities. Our own works could never save us, so we should not boast of any acts of service that we perform. Because of our sins, we so desperately need a Savior. We were lost in sin, but now we have salvation in Christ through the grace of God. God’s Grace is a gift for us to be saved!
We are called to do good works by being obedient to God and His Word. Although we don’t do good works to be saved, we do good works because we are saved, changed from the inside outside, and are led by God. God’s people are created to do good works, but it is only because God has prepared in advance for us to do them. So, the works are only because God is working through us and leading us.
Daily Reflection
Your works do not save you. Do you ever feel pressure to be perfect for God? God knows your heart. He isn’t looking for perfection, because God knows we aren’t perfect people. God is asking for your obedience to follow His ways and allow Him to be the center of your life.
Daily Quote
