“ David said to the Philistine, ‘You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands .’”
1 Samuel 17:45-47, NIV
In this passage of Scripture, we see David’s faith in the Lord. He stood in the victory of God before ever seeing the victory. He proclaimed his confidence and trust in the Lord. He spoke as if he did not doubt that God would bring him through the battle against the Philistines, or at least he didn't allow doubt to thrive. David displayed an admirable faith. His speech showed his trust and faith in God.
We are capable of the same relentless faith as David. When we are face-to-face with our life problems, it can certainly be a struggle to trust in God. While in the trials, it is easy to lack faith. We often allow our life problems to speak louder than our faith in the Lord. Though when we are filled with relentless faith, there is no room left for doubt. Let us not doubt the faithfulness of our God, instead, let us be fueled by the faithfulness of God. God IS worthy of our trust, even in the hard times.
Are you struggling with doubt? Do you desire relentless faith? Ask God to show you that He is ever-faithful and ever-trustworthy. Continue reading about how David had confidence and strength.
