“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.”
1 Timothy 1:15-16, NIV
This a great summary of the Good News of Jesus Christ! Jesus came to save us sinners, and there is not one person who has sinned too much to be saved by Him. Jesus came to show us how we ought to live, but ultimately to become our Savior by offering us the gift of salvation. Paul labeled himself in this Scripture as “the worst of sinners”, because he knew his past struggles would give people the hope of Christ Jesus.
Jesus has displayed His “unlimited patience” by showing mercy to all sinners, even those who feel like they are too far to receive forgiveness. For example, Paul was set out to destroy Christianity by persecuting Christian, but yet he was shown mercy and grace through the gift of salvation. Christ does the same to us all; He calls us all to Him. We must believe in Jesus Christ and we will receive the gift of eternal life with Him!
You have the gift of eternal life through Christ Jesus! No matter your past, you can receive salvation in Christ. Also, your past struggles can offer people in that same place the hope in Christ for the forgiveness of their sins and a life forever with Him.
"Jesus came to show us how we ought to live, but ultimately to become our Savior by offering us the gift of salvation."
