“The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”
Galatians 6:8, NIV
If we invest in our sinful nature, we sow evil things and are led to destruction. But if we invest to please the Spirit, we sow good things and will reap eternal life. The consequence of sin is death. The consequence of being in the Spirit and receiving the gift of God is eternal life. Nothing good is sown from pleasing our fleshly desires, though good is sown from living to please God.
Our actions have a result. The things we surround ourselves with can plant seeds in our life; whether good or bad. Living to please the Spirit means to surround yourself with good things and being obedient to God’s commands. The gift of eternal life comes to those who strive to please God, though there are times we make mistakes or are tempted into sin, God knows your heart and if you are sowing to please Him.
What seeds are you planting in your life? What do you dwell on, watch, listen to, read, search on the internet, surround yourself with or hang around? The things you feed yourself affects what you sow. Live to please God and not yourself!
"Nothing good is sown from pleasing our fleshly desires, though good is sown from living to please God."
