Knowing what God’s Word says but not putting it into practice is considered meaningless. In the book of James, it is very blunt and clear when it reads "Do what it says". Blunt but to the point. It’s important to listen to what the Bible says though it is even more important to obey it by doing what it says. Effective Bible study can be measured by the effect it has on our actions and attitudes. We mislead ourselves when we fail to act on what the Word says.
Let us not be like the man who looks in the mirror and immediately forgets what he looks like, instead let us have freedom by studying the Bible and obeying what it says. Intently study the Bible, so you can intentionally do what it says. When you obey what the Word of God says and continue doing it, not forgetting what you have heard, you will be blessed in what you do.
