Daily Scripture

“‘As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.’”
John 15:9-12, NIV

Daily Encouragement

Jesus demonstrated the love of the Father through His life. Jesus tells us here to remain in the love that He received from the Father. He says if you obey His commands, then you will remain in His love. The life that Jesus lived on earth was completely obedient to the commands of God the Father. We should strive to live completely obedient to God too!


Jesus wants us to have His joy, the Joy of the Spirit, so that our joy may be complete. The joy of the Lord is found when we are in a consistent, growing relationship with God and being obedient to His commands. Jesus commands us to love each other as He has loved us. Let us obey God’s commands, remain in His love, love others as He has loved us, and have the complete joy of the Spirit.

Daily Reflection

Are you obeying the Lord’s commands? Does your life show the love of the Father to others? Do you need to be reminded that your joy comes from the Lord, not your circumstances? We all could do a better job of being obedient, loving, and joyful. Ask the Lord to help you in whatever area you lack. Did you enjoy the Daily Scripture? Then don’t stop here, read the full chapter of John 15. OR better yet, read the full book of John. It is an absolutely great book of the Bible, and full of many great stories of the Lord.
